Not immediately, but quietly, a couple of months from now, I suspect Donald will have himself a new agent.
That said, is Donald really that personally uninformed or insulated from the realities of his situation? I understand a lot of posters on this board not understanding and thinking there was a balance of power or that (Ha ha) Donald held the cards.
But how can a college educated, smart young man like AD not realize he had NO leverage. He couldn't have picked a worse time to pull this stunt.
You can like or dislike Demoff and Snead. But they are level headed and been around this game a long time and done a long of contract negotiations. A good negotiator understands the strength or weakness of his position. Clearly the Rams had their number and weren't budging as Vinny B puts it. AD was getting some bad advice; his position was very weak and the Rams' was very strong.
Donald lost. Hands down. I'm surprised that the Rams so easily just gave back the $1.5 mil in fines and penalties. I believe that is a huge fundamental negotiation error that is going to come back to bite. The Rams had a chance to assume an even more dominant position in this deal and they chose instead to become philanthropists. Why wouldn't Donald do exactly the same thing next year? Stay away until one day before game 1. Play only 15 games and get full pay compared to everyone else with the OTAs, Training Camp, and 4 preseason games? There is no penalty for it. No price to pay. Guarantee you Ted Thompson wouldn't do it. The Rams were WAY too nice about this.
So the Rams don't need any congratulations because they were in a can't lose situation to begin with. All they had to do to win was......nothing.
Donald? As I have pointed out before, if his presence is so impactful, why have the Rams been so dismal for the 3 years he played? What was Donald going to do: simply quit football because he was only going to get $100 mil, but he wanted $120 mil? So he was going to cut off his nose to spite his face?
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
The guy I'm rooting for is his replacement: Tanzel Smart.
