He's on ESPN and saying nothing about Donald and he's just talking and talking. And utter embarrassment. I think the guy is mailing it in now.
Plus he makes no sense.
On one hand he says the Rams are trying but Donald wants to get paid as if he didn't have 2 years left on his contract, as if he was a FA. And the Rams are right not to give in to all his demands.
Then he says Donald is right not to give in to the Rams.
This is total political BS by Schefter cause he doesn't want to burn bridges with anyone. So he tell you nothing.
it were like the old days, when starting NFL players made 20 to 30K and worked summer jobs. I remember Deacon and Merlin doing that.
Joe Namath, when he signed a three-year deal for 400K, basically lit up the airwaves. People went ballistic.
But Donald is making more than a million a year, and
will make, what? Nearly 7 million next year? One more year and he never has to work again for anyone, nor will his kids if he handles it right.
The big thing, of course, is he signed a contract and it has two years to go. Honor the contract, play your heart out for your team and your next contract, and go from there. You're young. You have time. And, right now, you're making in one year what it takes the median wage earner more than 40 years to make. In short, AD isn't suffering from lack of funds.
The Rams need to stand their ground, IMO. It will set a terrible precedent if they cave.
(Side note: I'd rather see the players make the loot than the suits. But this is a highly unusual situation . . .)
