So I think the Broncos were smarter to go the route they did than the Rams were.
I think the main difference between Goff and Lynch at this point is the Broncos didn't have to force it with Lynch. They got the risk/reward calculation closer to correct than the Rams did, knowing Lynch was a project that would likely take time even if he eventually panned out. They don't have to justify their investment in him by pushing him out there before he's proven to them he's ready.
Additionally, the reason Osweiler was brought back on a one year cheapo deal was because Lynch is out at least 5 weeks with an injury. The fact they didn't IR Lynch actually tells you they don't want to wait to get Lynch back any longer than they have to. Osweiler may be gone again when Lynch does return. Osweiler was really about a decision between him and Kyle Sloter, not Lynch.
