1. I always thought Goff was worth the picks and would develop into a franchise qb. (BTW for me "franchise" does not necessarily mean "elite," just to be clear).
2. I also expected him to be very far behind in terms of becoming a pro qb because, well, he WAS far behind.
3. Therefore his performance last year didn't surprise me. It was in tough circumstances, but, he was just an exceptionally green rookie.
4. I also am not surprised by this pre-season. I am glad he has the offensive coaches but on the other hand, these coaches benefit in turn from working with a Goff who is no longer a completely green rookie. I would be surprised if Goff did not come through, even though he might not be "there" yet this year.
So I don't answer your question the way you framed it. But then...whenever someone asks a question, there's always posters who don;t answer it the way it's framed. That;s just part of posting.
