The play fake on Kupp's first catch was a thing of beauty

August 14, 2017 07:12AM
The D bit SO hard on the run, that's why Kupp was so wide open. Goff also demonstrated a super quick release with a defender bearing down on him, and good accuracy throwing off-balance and running to his left.

The completion to Woods was, as you mentioned, a nice little rub route.

Things I like to look for moving forward: WHY was our receiver open? What were the conditions McVay created that lured defenders away from Goff's intended target? Play fake? Route combinations? Overloading the DB's? etc. etc.

I'm going to enjoy watching this offense, even if it underperforms. A more nuanced game on both sides of the ball this year, so plenty of fun tidbits to sniff out.
