Too early in preseason for him to be a target. Not much game planning on either side going on and he's hardly a household name.
But, if in the next couple of games Davis doesn't solve BOTH the ball security issue AND pass pro he's not going to make the 53.
Nobody is expecting him to stand up a rush OLB or DE in pass pro. But as Marshall Faulk said: you have to stick your face in the fan. You gotta slow the guy up and not just dive at his legs. But I admit that's going to take a lot of courage.
In the end it's the ball security that is most worrying for sure. He wasn't quite a "fumbler" in college; I believe I read he fumbled 8 times in 450 carries. That's not a big number, but it's also not great. And the Pros are experts at ripping the ball out. It's all about technique. I remember when Tiki Barber had a huge problem with fumbles. But he got a lot of tutoring on technique and it helped immensely.
