Had the Rams' stayed in LA, (not even the move to Anaheim), it would be a lot different today.
Same with every team that's moved. It's a restart. People always bring up GB, PITT, Dallas, as examples of 'true fans'... yet each of those teams has been in place, (change of venue but not city), since before most of today's NFL audience was born.
Forgive this tangent - when they moved to Anaheim I was VERY fortunate in that my season tickets were right near 3 of the maybe 6 LA RAM fans who went to the Coliseum I knew from years past. I had met them at a little local Italian restaurant just a block or so from the Coliseum. They would meet there before every game... they were THEN well into their 70's, 80's.
Upon reuniting in Anaheim they carried with them their passion for the Rams... but it wasn't the same for them. For me it wasn't that big of a deal... I don't live anywhere near LA, or Anaheim. They nearly always spoke of the 'old days' when at the Anaheim Game... not obsessively but it nearly always came up.
I don't think you can exaggerate the worth of Father - to Son - To Grandson - To Great-Granson. Continuity. You move a franchise and you're moving souls.
Rams will have to rebuild that, and it will take years. Yes, it's winning, but it's more than that as well. And I seriously doubt ANY city, not even GB, would be any different. - JamesJM
