the ideal scenario...

August 09, 2017 08:34AM
... to me is simply coming out of this season feeling they don't need to find a QB, RB, WR or TE with any urgency. Now they still may draft a RB somewhere because no long-term guarantees with Gurley or any RB. But even if Tavon doesn't cut it it would be nice to feel they can enter 2018 with (order TBD) Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Cooper, Thomas and Spruce as their guys. Even feeling good about 4 of those 6 would be great.

My hope is 2018 can then be focused mainly on defense and the OL. Defensively, any way you cut it they're going to need some restocking in the front seven and at CB (lots of pending free agents).

On the OL, ideally they feel OK about what they have overall but can add a longer-term option at center and find Whitworth's heir apparent at LT. Maybe more OG depth too since Saffold, Havenstein, Brown and Wichmann will all be UFA after 2018.

But again I just want them to come out of 2017 feeling "we're good at QB, RB and WR/TE."
