I saw the question and thought, who remembers PS games?
But ... 1 game does stand out. I remember watching WASH in the PS in '67, Lombardi's first year there. WASH had sucked forever--or at least, for a junior high guy, what seemed like forever--and I remember thinking before the game: "OK, this Lombardi is this GB legend. But he won't be able to do much with WASH. Gotta have the talent."
And a couple of quarters later I was beginning to understand what coaching can do for a football team. I have never forgotten that lesson.
Football is a coach's game. I am deeply convinced of that. I know many and many here disagree with it. But coaches raise and lower teams' performance levels much more than any single players can, yes, including QBs. I began to see that fact that day long ago.
