McVay spoke highly of his TE group as showing good skills against both run and pass, with Higbee the clear leader at this point. But that Everett has made large strides.
Then he went on to describe Harkey as "reliable" (which is like calling a painting "interesting"....kiss of death). Then further went on to make it clear that Harkey is currently #4 on the TE depth chart AND that "the first 3" as he called them he was really pleased with.
I just don't think Harkey sticks because I don't see them keeping 4 TEs.
I see 4 RBs that include a FB. 3 QBs. 3 TEs. And 6 WRs.
Here is the make-up that I think we'll see for McVay.
TE 3
WR 6
OL 9
RB 4
QB 3
DL 7
LB 8
DB 10
Then of course LS, K, P.
It could vary slightly to accomodate an injured player or suspended player (like Thomas) to begin the year.
Being able to keep 10 on the PS this year is going to make this even a bit more interesting as will the effect of no preseason roster reduction from 90 until after the 4th preseason game. Tons of guys going to be hitting the market all at once. And, likely after the 3rd game some minor trades for late picks.
You think that they'll keep 3 QB's, Rock?
That would surprise me.
I think a 4th TE or a 10th OL player is more likely.
Heck, even a 7th WR if they really like somebody for development.
