As a mid-round pick it's much more likely than not that Ebukam is a ST contributor and that's pretty much it this year. And with Quinn and Barwin starting he can learn from them. He was taken 125th overall and on my aggregated draft list he was ranked 175th, so yeah, a bit high. But he has a lot of good things going for him. I would hope a mid-4th rounder becomes more than a good ST player but we'll see.
By the way overall while Everett, maybe Johnson and Ebukam could be considered 'reaches' where they were taken I think that's balanced by Kupp, Smart, and Price being very good value picks where they were taken.
Too early to judge any of our picks as reaches, of course. Certainly by me, anyway.
But one thing all of our picks have in common is that they seem to be "McVay types". Meaning producers in college, smart, good citizens, strong leadership characteristics, etc.
The kind of players that are easy to root for and hard to bet against.
