He had QB ratings in the 90's and one year in the 100's with Martz. The demise of Bulger occurred long after Martz when he started to play scared and his fundamentals and footwork and reads and preparation deteriorated.
Bulger fell apart because starting in 2007 and continuing through 2009, the Rams had a long long series of catastrophic OL injuries. The list of OL injuries for those 3 seasons combined is just amazing. To give you an idea of how bad it was, Barron was the only one who never got injured (or in the case of Incognito, cut). Bulger wasn't playing scared in those years, he was playing battered.
In fact before that Bulger played well for
2 offense-oriented head coaches, not just Martz, with Liinehan being the 2nd. In 2006, after Martz, Bulger had his 3rd season with a qb rating in the 90s and had the most attempts, most yards, and the best TD to INT ratio of his career (24/8).
