You know, I remember that our banged-up backup Offense was very Boras-esque that September 1970 Sunday at The RockPile (native Buffalonian Ron Jaws Jaworski's name for old War Memorial Stadium......quick story here....when they were hunting for an old 1930's Stadium location for the Robert Redford baseball classic 1984 movie, THE NATURAL.....guess which Stadium the Hollywood Location Scouts settled on huh?? Yep.....Buffalo's RockPile!!
Asked in an interview at the time, what he thought of Buffalo people, Robert Redford opined "Their driving habits gave me sore molars!".....
....anyway, back to whether it was Karl Sweetan who handed the hogbladder off to Pat Curran on that OffTackle Right running play....it is most possible, as Roman Gabriel was forced to tuck the ball in and rush numerous times that game to keep the sticks moving. Ron McDole led a pretty tough Bills D in those days, and I can remember Gabe getting roughed-up a few times in gang-tackle situations. So it is quite probable Gabe went to the sidelines for a play or two to get the old smelling salts, and the old Concussion Protocol of 1970

"How many fingers am I holding up?"
"What day is it today?"
"What color jerseys are the other team wearing today?
There was only one other Rams fan on our High School football team.....our very large Italian DT....Jimmy Calla. He and I scored the tickets from a Billiards Hall//Serbian Social Club hangout for Yugoslavian thugs in a bad part of town. Evidently the guys who were supposed to use the two tickets lost their Court Case and were going to jail for a while. It was a real eye-opening experience for a 17 year old HS kid ....that 20 minutes in that Pool Hall with those tough guys. Glad my Hungarian dad had taught me a few words of Serbian, I can tells ya!!!
BTW, the Rams D that day was lights out....as the Shutout score would indicate. Ah.....memories!!
Cheers from sunny Vancouver BC
