It's not just an L.A. thing. More n more, we are seeing what he talked about ALL OVER the NFL. It has absolutely NOTHING AT ALL to do with fan loyalty. It's simple, if teams suck, fans are not gonna spend $$$$$$$ to watch poor performing millionaires. I know there are some long time NFL fans in Southern Cal but when you go back to a long time ago, going to a game was not a huge financial set back. I was in Dallas, in 1989, to see our Rams play THEEEEE ALMIGHTY AMERICA'S TEAM, DALLAS!!!!!!!! Dallas has THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of fans ALL over the country!!!!! So we hear. That day, there was MAYBE 35,000-40,000 in Texas Stadium. Because Dallas STUNK! I have been to games in Tampa and Miami, when the Bucs and Phins had actually pretty good teams, with barely 30,000 in the stands. There are 32 teams in the NFL and you can count on MAYBE 7-8 teams to consistently fill the house.
I still LOVE NFL football but let's get real. To the NFL, loyalty is not back sides in stadium seats but how much $$$$$$$ can the city put in the NFL's pocket. If it was attendance?? Miami and Tampa would've lost the Phins and Bucs YEARS ago.
