It was open outfield where the stadium went foul pole to foul pole only, you had the BIG "A" in dead centerfield. The Halo would light up after the Angels hit a HR. Sat about 45,000.
Rams moved in and connected both ends of stadium, which closed off the open outfield. They had to move the BIG "A" (which was a very big operation back in those days. Was in the paper and all that.) and it ended up next to the Freeway as a big message board. Rams field went from left field, down third base line to first base line.
Sat about 75,000.
Rams left.....Angels modified outfield but did not open up the outfield again. Kept it closed and circular.
