That Goff was Stan's idea... entirely anyway. He may have desperately wanted a QB but I don't think he saw Goff as "The" choice unless the FO and Coaches affirmed for him that he was 'franchise'. If Stan was insistent on a QB he probably had a few in mind, (perhaps no one specifically but just the position).
ED's comments relating to Goff I believe rely heavily on last year's training camp, preseason, and season... which for us were filled with 'he ain't there yet' reports. Nothing much this year to go on yet. It will be interesting to hear what ED says AFTER training camp.
As for ED... nah, I'm not put off by it either. - JamesJM
