Average first season wins for those coaches: 7.8. Take out the outliers (Knox and Spagnuolo) and it's just over 8.0.

On average those 1st year coaches added 2.5 wins to the previous season's win total. The biggest jumps coming from Robinson (2-7 to 9-7 plus a playoff win) and Fisher (2-14 to 7-8-1).

Just in relation to Robinson, he inherited a tremendous OL plus enough defensive pieces to get off the ground quickly once they drafted Dickerson. The 83 starters not on the roster in 82 include Dickerson and Gary Green. I think Wilcher played some but according to the numbers I looked at, he didn't start.

Really, all the other starters were already on the roster.
