Robinson at least was on the field and did play in 42 games, Smith was not even good enough to play at all. In fairness Robinson was durable, but still, the pick should have been Jake Matthews, Rams needed a LT and Matthews was more of a proven commodity with the lineage as well and if Matthews had gone to Auburn, he would have been the pick.

Frankly, the way it has worked out, I prefer Whitworth over Matthews. If they gave me a do over on the 2014 2nd pick I would have traded down and not taken Matthews.

What happened to Smith is that he got spooked by a severe neck injury and was never the same after that. He lost any interest he had in the game at that point.

Back to the present. The way I see this, it's potentially like Cousins v. RG3. RG3 turned out, for lots of reasons, to not be worth the picks. But they had Cousins so in the end they're fine. Well if he works out, Brown is the Rams's Cousins. Yeah it would be nice to have used the 2014 #2 effectively (same with trading picks for RG3), but if it works out anyway (Cousins, Brown) I am not going to drown in a pity party over it.
