I don't think anyone is leveraging anyone. I don't think AD is in a "I hold out till I have a new deal" situation at all. If you listen to the Rams it sounds nothing like that. What it sounds like is that they are both mutually interested in exploring an extension, and it's close...in fact so close that he doesn't want to risk an injury by practicing. And the Rams sound like they're fine with that. So AD is not "holding out" in the sense people usually mean that.
