on the offensive line

I thought an OG in the 2nd or 3rd and/or a center in the 6th/7th was going to be in the cards too. But I do understand their approach. This team needs an immediate boost which explains the Whitworth and Sullivan (after losing out on Groy) signings. And they absolutely needed more TE and WR help for Goff.

But also agree with the idea that many of the younger OL played well in 2015 as rookies before stepping backward in 2016. So give Kromer a year to see which guys are keepers or not. I just don't think Havenstein, Brown and Wichmann all suddenly forgot how to play. Robinson is gone next year. See if the Washington UDFA can beat Rhaney (let's hope...) for a backup job. Saffold is also easy to let go contract-wise in 2018 if he doesn't stay healthy, and if he does he's an UFA after 2018.

Presumably after a weak OL draft this year it will be more top-heavy and deeper for 2018. Let's hope. To me the 2018 draft, when they have a 1st rounder again, could be a prime time to get their LT and C of the future.
