His overarching perspective looks similar to mine. Too heavy on the raw but athletic project side (which is inherent high bust factor), too light on the immediate and less risky help side. The group is going to require A LOT of development, which also means time.
Disagree on his point that Kupp is only a slot receiver. He played the outside all through Senior Bowl practice and in the game and came away as the most impressive WR there. His greatest value may be in the slot and that was true in college because that's how you get the ball in your best players hands the most, but that doesn't mean that's his "ceiling" in the NFL.
The Rams also are not flush with interior pass catchers.
I think Johnson has the chance to be a year one starter at FS, but only because the Rams lack serious competition there. He's raw too and will likely require some time to understand and recognize what NFL offenses are trying to do. He actually had a problem with that in college.
Can you provide some detail on who you have preferred them taking at some of the spots they took the (as you called him) raw but athletic project side players?
In the spirit of good faith, I will start out by saying the first pick should have been Lamp.
Who do you got instead of Kupp or Reynolds or some of the others?
