McMeans, Ebukam and Eldrenkamp all played in the NFLPA COLLEGIATE BOWL this pastJanuary. I watched and took notes. Apparently the Rams scouts did, too.
This game typically doesn't produce a lot of draft picks like the Senior Bowl or even the EAST-WEST SHRINE game, but I think they are getting a higher grade of talent as each year goes by. KC drafted a a pretty good receiver (Chris Conley) in 2016. The Rams back in 2015 or 2014 signed as UDFA a guard from Miami named Washington who bounced around on our practice squad for a few years--but he never panned out.
I had
McMeans as a priority FA after watching this game - from my notes, he looked sort of stumpy but aggressive. Had a great block on a draw play taking out the MLB. Fared well on pass blocks winning three and losing one.
Ebukam was the best player on the field for either side in this game --and I had him as a 2nd or 3rd rounder. A lot of his plays, though were against a BYU tackle named Eide who wasn't much of a prospect. Ebukam lit him up --especially with the speed rush outside. I also had in my notes his hustle running down a long reverse-looked real athletic and speedy with good size. He had a nice punch move knock back the OT on a sweep run getting the loss. He always maintained good leverage-not just a pass rusher. Batted down a pass when he couldn't penetrate.
Eldrenkamp showed some really good feet in pass protection side-to side. A couple of good run blocks. Not really heavy handed. I had him as a 5th rounder.
