More and more I’d be surprised if they don’t trade down. Absent a trade down though, I agree with you. It’s gonna be a D player at 37.
Engram may intrigue McVay but this is also a deep TE class. There are too many others that are nearly his equal that will be available later. Only 3 TEs in the top 50 with 2 in the 1st reflects that.
I see them making a choice between a 1st round caliber D player that slides or playing to the strength of the draft (rounds 2-4) by trading down and picking up an extra 3rd.
I suspect they go the trade down route to the 50-55 range b/c then going offense is not a value issue. And I think they WANT to focus on offense first.
