Just because a player played primarily in the slot doesn't mean that he's limited to the slot. You have to account for the talent he had at QB while playing at EWU. It would be a waste of his talent to play him on the outside where the talent throwing to him is limited. There aren't any routes in the route tree he can't run, pair that with Kupp's great footwork, speed, and hands and you have an outside receiver. Not to mention, he was absolutely dusting corners at the Senior Bowl and constantly getting separation, which is vital for outside receivers. I'll once again respectfully disagree with that notion.
