I think the Rams D would benefit most by a great FS than a high priced CB.

Stout CBs that can run, are fundamentally good tacklers, play press man, and cover just adequately, are not as hard to get as the great cover/shut down corners. Heck; Joyner can be a starter at CB with a great FS.

A great FS that can do it all and do it physically, makes the entire secondary better.

Rams should pay the great Eric Berry whatever it takes. Revis money if need be. He is a leader off the field and on, a superstar FS in my book, and he's only 28. So a long term contract is no problem.

There is no FA CB, including TruJ, that can hold Berry's jock.
The Rams should make Berry their #1 priority.

#2 Priority should be a good vet WR that can show the way. This is where Garcon on a 2 year deal at maybe $15mil makes sense. He knows McVay's system, he has very good speed and is a superb route runner with excellent hands. Tough, bullish. Then let the 2nd year guys and draft picks fight it out. Goodbye to Quick unless he plays near the vets minimum. No guaranteed money. Goodbye Britt.

#3 Priority a good Center. It has become vogue to take a good Olineman and turn him into a Center. I've thought for some time that Saffold could play Center but he may be our fallback position at LT. He moves well for a guy his size; he's smart. We may even want to look at one of our 2nd year guys to convert. Perhaps target a guy in the 3rd or 4th round. But a veteran to me is the best move as ready starter.

#4 Priority a good all around TE, who has good hands but is a better blocker. I love Martellus Bennett. Team him with the kid, draft a TE in the 4th, and let Kendricks and his tendency to drop easy passes at the worst possible moment, go. He is a journeyman TE at best.

#5 Priority ILB. I think we need depth here. I like Forrest at ILB in Phillip's scheme.

I really think this is the way to go. Berry is worth his weight in gold and is the guy who can make this Rams D dominating with Phillips 3-4 hybrid D. I drool over the idea of playing Quinn in the OLB role with Donald at DE.

A good safety that got over paid for in free agency and a total bust for New Orleans.

I would NEVER pay a safety BIG money in free agency, it's a losing proposition.

Berry is a good player but it would be a bad utilization of cap dollars for a team like the Rams with so many needs.

Even if they were a couple of players away a safety is just to far from the ball to overpay.

Heaven forbid but his cancer could reappear at anytime.

Best,
Laram
