Exactly right,
We 've done well with Barron at LB the last couple years and I can't take anything away from him he's made plays, he's been aggressive, he was near a team mvp in 2015 and honestly saved our defence sitting in for tree but if you make him the long term starter at his weight at linebacker ESPECIALLY in the 3-4, ,,there will be some games WHERE HE will be a liability Taking on OL blocks and trying to fill gaps inside AND outside vs running game.
He is either best served as a big nickel LB if we run different alignments up front to help cover him up or at strong safety replacing TJ now. If its going to be,,,
Forrest and Tree inside and Quinn at right linebacker.
I can't see Barron at strong side linebacker that would also affect the LDE trying to hold that area.
I think it would be much tougher.
We can't have Tree and Barron on the inside linebacker positions for Sam reasons . The nose tackle would be extremely stressed and the next level is going to be fairly easy to grind up in the run game.
I know Barron has heart and has a role I just think we are asking for a problem if we continue to use him fulltime at linebacker.
Phillips is a fantastic defensive coach he 'll get another gritty guy who can stand in there without the size disadvantage Barron has.
Really good breakdown. I can see you put some thought into this.
One question though. How do you suppose Bucannon has been extremely successful in Ari.?
