Someone posted his PFFstats and they were surprising - to me anyway - as I didn't realize Mo was as effective as he, apparently, was at FS.
Heck, if we lose TJ to FA......I even think they could put Mo in at SS or even emergency-sub as a WILB (ala Barron) as they both have good instincts near the LoS and are violent tacklers. imo
Or they simply move Barron back to SS and keep Mo at FS for next year.
Wade will do what's best for the players and team by getting the guys in the right spots to make them shine. we'll see.
Mo graded very well by PFF. But that’s not the whole story.
I’ve argued on behalf of PFF before and am defending them in another thread. However, I’ve long stated that they have their limitations.
One of them is, you can only grade what you see.
GW basically gave MO only half of the assignment that McLeod was responsible for. When McLeod was the FS, Williams would primarily deploy a single high safety look.
Last year, he kept TJM deep a lot more. IIRC, it was like 30-40% more. That tells me that he trusted McLeod back there by himself and didn’t with MO. Probably b/c McLeod has solid coverage skills.
When TJM is playing deep that extra 30-40%, he’s not in the box supporting the run defense. Hence, we have a drop off in defending the run.
So according to PFF, MO did a very good job with the assignment he was given. They can’t possibly measure a coach not trusting him with an assignment.
My opinion is that MO is a SS; He and TJM are redundant. Also, Barron failed as a SS which is why we got him cheaply in trade. I support them getting a true FS.
