The Rams had just scored to take the lead 17-13.

own 17 yard line with only 1:21 left in regulation.Most thought the Pats would run the clock out and play for overtime, even John Madden opined as much.
Instead of playing
conservative and running the clock out playing for overtime,
the Pats called 8 straight pass plays.8 straight pass plays
inside their own 20 yard line against a defense they had done nothing against all day. Nothing
Tom Brady was essentially a second year player at that point having played only one game his rookie season.
Despite that his coach put the ball in his hands because he had confidence in him and it paid off.
