Solomon Thomas needs technique work (specifically hands) but his burst and quickness at the snap is outstanding, has ++ snap recognition and +++ run/pass awareness. High motor. Only a redshirt sophomore so when the technique catches up watch out. Looks like a clear Top 10 pick.
Lattimore is my pretty clear top CB. Freaky burst and second gear. Lots of bounce. Extremely fluid. Very good length. ++ ball skills, often runs the routes better then the WRs. Meh vs the run.
Zack Cunningham is a HIGHLY hyped prospect...I'm skeptical. Lacks instincts/lots of false steps. Not overly fond of contact, prefers to tackle with arms
Side note -
No Jarron Jones, Notre Dame on a first round list seems odd to me. Very long and incredibly strong. Powerful hands. Easily controls and disengages from lineman. His game vs Miami might be the best dline performance I saw this year.
I am not near the fan of Thomas as others. he is the anti-Stanford football player, really athletic but not nearly as strong technically instead of the other way around like every other Cardinal.
In a deep CB class its Lattimore by a neck followed by humphrey and then jones. humphrey had some hiccups this year. Jones is a little light. lattimore is the real deal and young.
I love Cunningham, but then again I am not sure I love him early in the first, but at 27 im cool with.
BTW, good to see you again bud.
I am very high on S. Thomas. He flashes greatness and I see no reason why his technique won't catch up and make those flashes more consistent. Ideally he would've stayed another year but that's become a thing of the past. Guys come out early and teams better have the staff to develop and put them in a position to succeed.
I love Cunningham's physical skillset and don't HATE anything about his game. I think he's better outside where he doesn't have as many responsibilities but in that role I haven't seen him offer much as a pass rusher. Inside is where I see false steps and him more grabby as a tackler, less of a striker.
And thanks, glad to be back around this season. Draft is a great mental getaway for me, and this is my favorite place to discuss it. Hope you are staying warm and that all is well
