for example, how many gms are you aware of who had back to back rookie of the year picks? i could go on about some of the success and im sure you could point out the failures, but where does that get us?
clearly this year was a debacle. but this team is still better off then when snead and fisher took over. in fact phillips said that at least one of the reason he took this job over others is the talent on defense most of which was acquired by snead or at lest he had a hand in it.
the bigger issue is the offense. is it talent or coaching or both? its hard to tell. but we replaced one variable. it will be interesting to see if mcvay (known for offense) can get more out of the group. moreover, i find some of the comments by gurly and the oline particularly revealing. "hs offense" "lack of coordination", etc. i think its safe to assume that while boras may have been a nice guy and maybe a good te coach, he was probably out of his depth as an oc.
