is more of a bruiser type who can safely catch the ball and then be a load for defenses to bring down. Probably something along the lines of Bavaro, tbh. Higbee isn't a great athlete, and he's not a bruiser per se, but he's a little of both and he's also a huge target with good hands.
So I don't know, maybe I'm overvaluing him. But I keep going back to some camp practices I attended, the pass catching drills to be specific, where the guy stood out like crazy. It didn't translate to the field, but then of course it rarely does right out the gate with TEs. But I'll add that the guy was widely looked at as a round 2 option and many thought it was the off field stuff that made him slide, which I do think is how things went down in the draft.
The more I look at McVay and his background, the more I think Higbee is really set up for success if he's smart enough to seize it. He has some significant talent as a pass catcher, he and Jared are tight, and he's gonna have some outstanding coaching this offseason. Really hope he maximizes the opportunity.
