I tell you what. What I saw of this kid yesterday vs PSU was nothing short of amazing. As good a college QB as I have ever seen! But I also remember a young Matt Barkley whom I was blown away by at USC and when he stayed in school an extra year it cost him millions he will never see because the longer he played the more average he became.

I know this kid has to stay another year, just saying his motion WILL BE a bone of contention once he finally declares.

Note: There were actually tweets late last night from NFL guys already talking about it (his long delivery).

Yeah, I'm sure the "experts" will glom onto it because they need something to talk about and to justify their existence. But these guys aren't much better than us just guessing. I wouldn't want my QB to have a long delivery in principle but sometimes you just have to look at a guy play. Darnold, so far, isn't overwhelmed by defenses. He goes through his reads, has good anticipation, gets the ball to his receivers accurately and doesn't turn it over much.

Even with all of that, the media will point to his delivery to try and knock him down a peg or three. That why Brady drops to the 6th, Warner goes undrafted, Romo goes undrafted, etc. Measurables continue to be overvalued and guys who can play get nitpicked for the wrong reasons.

The long delivery is usually a red flag because it means a QB won't be able to get rid of the pass quickly enough. But Darnold does get rid of it quickly enough so it's not really an issue. What he's got between the ears is far more important but most teams will probably dock him based on the physical part.
