I think Fisher was convinced he had more time.....

I think he believed that the move gave him a free pass on whatever happened in 2016 and by the time he was being held actually accountable again, Boras would have his sea legs, running the kind of offense Fisher wanted, and everything would be fine. Fisher had a misguided sense of entitlement to the job and an overblown sense of the owner's undying gratitude towards him. An astounding arrogance, really. Even after five years of miserable results, he still seemed to believe he was that "supercoach" that the media made him out to be when he returned to the game in 2012.
