I like Jared Goff, I HOPE he progresses into a franchise QB. But, we have no idea if he will, only time will tell. Goff's success or failure has NO relationship to any past QB's. To try and relate him to any former NFL QB is really quite futile. He has strengths and weaknesses like any other QB. Granted, his development so far has been disappointing, as has the entire Rams organization from the top on down. So early in Goff's career, I don't see the need to "label" him anything yet. Hopefully, there will be plenty of time to evaluate his career after many years with the Rams.
Now, Greg Robinson, that is another story..............
Comparisons don't guarantee one player is like another.
In this case they simply show that players who looked similar to Goff does now have gone on to do well.
That doesn't GUARANTEE IT and I don't see anyone saying it DOES.
BUT it means you cannot rule it out, either.
If others HAVE done it before, then guys CAN do it now too. That is, it's quite possible.
That's all this says. And it's not conjecture. It's just true---there is a fair number of high-picked qbs who looked good after their rookie years didn't IN their rookie years, and it is impossible to rule that possibility out for Goff, too.
It's a thing that happens.
