Any similarities between Gurley and Trey Mason / Zac Stacey are coincidences IMO.

Stacey was a 5th round draft pick who by definition is not expected to amount to much. Sustained production from him would have been a surprise.

Mason had a sudden, unpredictable mental illness. You really can't draw any lesson from that. His case as far as football production has zero to do with the Rams.
