Just heard former All-Pro CB Eric Davis talk about TA on the Rams' pre-game show. Said Davis:
- Compares unfavorably to other small receivers like Antonio Brown, Steve Smith and ODBJ.
- Good athlete and returner (think Devin Hester).
I was against picking this shrimp from day one. He will never be what anyone hoped. That pick, and the contract just given to TA this offense, will hurt the Rams for years to come.
That's what I say.
His mistake is comparing him to pure receivers, since that is not what Austin is. And btw I was saying that before they drafted him.
They had the right idea last year when they used him more as a combined yardage guy. Run and pass.
Having said that, I think the receiving part of his "multiple roles" game will be better with Goff. He needs the ball coming right to his hands and Goff can do that.
