Back then, that was a HUUUUGE drought. I recall thinking, after we drafted Dickerson and Ellard and Robinson as HC, that it would be highly unlikely to ever see such a drought.
Then came the 1990 season. I recall getting the S.I. preview and it had us playing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Losing Holohan and Greg Bell REALLY set us back. At the time, if you had told me we were in for a EIGHT year drought, I would've told you to seek help. Heck, in 1992, we gave a DYNASTY Dallas team their only home loss. Through the 90s, we were at least given glimmers of hope. Then came the GSOT!! The nightmare was over!
The GSOT came crashing down when Steve Smith took the double O.T. catch to the house. 2004.. Yeah, we made the playoffs at 8 and 8 and had VERY exciting wins vs Seattle but the Falcons showed us what we were all about. IMO, the 2004 Rams were a badly sputtering engine that finally died in Atlanta.
Twelve seasons later........TWELVE seasons later, here we are! What scares me is that it does not seem like twelve years. I have been kicked in the gut so many times by the Rams, it's a yearly routine. THIS year is the lowest. We are possibly stuck with a loser HC.....We have almost no reason to look toward the draft (Even if we had 5 first round picks, when was the last time the Rams NAILED a draft????).....We have a owner that never gives a hint to the pulse of the Rams.....The only voice is Demoff and I trust him like a used car salesman.
The plus side to be at the lowest point, things HAVE to get better! I sure miss the "problematic" 1981 and 82 seasons!! LOL
