the first drive of the second half when they were fully rested.
Seemed the game ended after the long Ingram run.
And if you recall I said in the gtf that the defense needed to make a stand on their first series in the second half.
They failed and that was essentially game set match!!
Yep, that was the gutpunch. TKO game over. It pretty much told the story, no matter what they did or what adjustment they made it was wrong. It happens to every team, even really good one's. But it couldn't have come at a worse time or against a worse matchup. I've never seen this defense continually play out of position, lose gap containment, run to color(up each other's backs) or just plain guess wrong. In all reality its probably a good thing for this young emerging defense to get exposed vs. a top notch passing attack to see exactly where they still need to get better to become a "great defense". Which clearly they aren't yet. I don't believe they are as bad as they looked on Sunday either. I expect a better performance next week. What I don't want to see is them mail it in and quit no matter what the coaching situation is. These guys need to step up and show some veteran leadership especially if its not coming from the coaching staff. Next week will indeed be telling.
