The veracity is uncertain but I place a high degree of value in the immediate source as he is the Godfather to one of my sons. Since I had not heard this I thought I would pass it along.
My friend - who has a former associate who works in marketing for the Rams - says that Fisher didn't want Goff but the owner forced Snead to acquire him.
That's all I got.
It doesn't add up. Whenever you watch Fisher talk about Goff, both recently since he became the starter and back on the day they drafted him, he has an inner glow like a proud father. You can fake words but you can't fake emotions, or at least most coaches have not taken enough acting lessons to do it and keep it up across months. Plus, also, of course, SK owns several sports teams and his "hands off" rep is well-established.
There are all sorts of rumors right now and all of them come with presumed solemn insider credentials. LIke K.Johnson saying Goff was a bust and the coaches didn't think he was a good pick.
I understand you're just passing along what you heard. No offense to your friend. But, he could righteously believe what he says, with it still not being true.
