You and I will both agree that the expertise on this board, (and yours), is good. Remember how we all started questioning each other, DOUBTING our own 'perceived' knowledge of the game? In a word, "Ok, don't get all excited, but DAMN, this looks like good football. NOT saying it's actually good, but this is different. It "Looks" good".
We couldn't believe our eyes, our expertise, (bit of ego there), was telling us something our hearts couldn't readily accept.
I'm pretty sure it was game 5, not the Niner game, when I stood up, saluted, in front of my TV, and knew that what I was watching was not an aberration..NOT proof necessarily, but that they were winning because they were actually GOOD. I can even remember you and I saying so... (not like your defense of Fisher today), and ALL the rest saying, "Uhhhh, geez, it does look that way, it's impossible though, but it DOES look that way". And to be fair, not just you and I... but far from the majority. The 'doubt' kept up thru the playoffs, AND the SB...."no team can do this".
You can't imagine how much I wish to my grandkids can experience something even close to that in their lifetimes. It's a long shot.. team 'loyalty' as you and I know it is tenuous, not GONE by any means, but not as readily available, I don't think. Often I relive those days, (often telling my oldest grandson that in the first SB after he was born the Rams were victorious, he was born April of 1999", and he loves that... even though his Dad is a Bronco's fan and he tends to side with them more often than the Rams. (MVP in high school this year, BTW, in case you missed my PUB post)

What nailed it for me was the Titans game.
In game 2, the Atlanta game, I was amazed by how the offense looked, and I had exactly the kind of feeling you describe---it was like, hey we play AGAINST teams like that, we're not a team like that, but .... here they are, doing it.
The Titans game, though, they battled back and showed heart. They had not shown that much competitive heart and skill when behind since I could remember. I knew in my gut they were for real right then and there.
