Yes, it was too hard... but I think the idea was to hit that open spot, (that exists in nearly all kickoff formation), just beyond the second line of blocker.. .by the sideline - INSTEAD of trying the 10yd standard.

High School do that a lot, (lacking strong kickers), and I've seen it in the pro's as well... but not all that often. - JamesJM
