Fisher coached teams = penalties = losing records.

November 01, 2016 09:30AM
Last night I watched the Bears manhandle the Vikes using the same formula that Fisher tries to espouse: Good D, ST and running game with enough passing thrown in to keep the other team's D honest.

The only difference between the formula the Bears used to beat the Vikes and a Fisher coached team: PENALTIES. The Bears compiled a TOTAL of 2 penalties ( Vikes only 1) last night. Coupled with 0 TO's, it's a formula for even a 1-6 team to manhandle a 5-1 division leader.

During Fisher's tenure the Rams have been at or near the top in penalties. Fisher's tenure has also been marked with a consistently inept offense that is near the bottom of the league every year under Jeff. In fact, we are currently last in the NFL.

When you combine a putrid offense with a propensity to commit drive/game changing penalties on both sides of the ball, the result is predictable: More losses than wins.

It is an axiom in the NFL that penalties come back to rest as the coaches' fault, and it has been that way throughout Jeff's entire coaching career, especially so with the Rams.

JF likes to keep games close and wait for the other team to commit costly penalties or turn overs. The problem is that under Fisher, it is the Rams that are the ones who usually commit said penalties/TO's.

This statistic should tell all you need to know about penalties: The Seahawks are 26-6 in games where they commit less than 80 yds in penalties. This same dominant team is 1-7 when they commit more than 80 yds. I'm not saying that lack of penalties is the only reason the Seahawks have been so good, but statistics show that it is a MAJOR factor.

Just as penalties are a MAJOR factor in Fisher's inability to rise above this "7-9 bullsh@t". I don't know the precise numbers (I'll look them up and edit) but I'm willing to bet we avg close to 80 yds every game. Hence, the 5 straight losing records under Fisher.

EDIT: Although we "only" avged 66 ypg, we were 30th, 29th, DEAD LAST, 25th from 2012-2015 and are currently 25th. I would have lost my bet because 66 is not "close" to 80 ypg, but it hardly diminishes my point about penalties and losing under Fisher.

Other "High Penalty" teams have enough offense to overcome the flags
