I have no idea why Fisher does not call Martz and hires him as an offensive consultant. (Me, he would be my OC right now.)
Just send him game film of upcoming opponents, have him game plan a few ways to attack them.........Have Martz come in on Mondays, and work with the Offensive staff to attack in a few different ways. You know, give them some ideas. Just consult, then fly home to sunny San Diego.
If the guy is semi-retired, living in Southern California, he may only want to work with a local team, like the Rams or Chargers.....The way our offense is going, I have no idea why Fisher won't kick the tires on this guy. Have Martz come by for a week, put him up in a local motel, let him walk around practice and just shoot the breeze and observe what's going on. Then, pick his brain on "What he would do to improve what they are doing." Maybe, see if he still has the fire to be an OC again.
I know, Football coaches have VERY BIG EGO'S".....Fisher is pretty stubborn and set in his ways, but he should have an open mind because 3-4 is just not getting it done. If Martz still loves the helmets, then he still loves the Rams.......To me, it's worth it to see if he would ever think about coaching in the NFL again.
I'm sure Gurley and Goff.......Well, pretty good players already on the roster to work with.
