I don't recall hearing Todd Gurley talking like that before. When times get rough,
everybody goes to blame, whether it's in the locker room, media, whatever it is.
We're on the field together, so we've just got to stay together."
This seems to imply: (1) times are getting rough (2) everybody is starting to blame and (3) there is a risk that the team is coming apart and (4) TG felt it was on him to individually go around and tell that to each player and that he loves them.
Times have been rough a lot during the last 4 years but I don't recall hearing that someone needed to go around to each player to "stay together." This implies, at a minimum, that there is strain within this locker room. And even if that has happened before, now its happening in public, another negative sign.
Additionally, you would think that JF is the type of coach to keep a lid on this type of stuff and yet we are hearing about it. Perhaps the lid is ajar.
Obviously, you can't know for sure what is going on in the locker room but to pretend there is nothing to the notion that the Coach may be losing the team is naive.
This is not personal to JF. I think it would apply to any coach who has been with the same team for 5 years and has yet to produce commensurate with their own expectations.
