what happened when the ref took Joyner out?

The very next play Tate scores. I heard it on a good source that Tate told the ref that Joyner didn't "look right". So protocal was for the ref to take him to the sidelines. Tate scores on the next play and Joyner comes back in. Apparently the Lions are laughing at the whole thing.
