I remember trying to give Davis BOD because of his multi touchdown games and his inexperience and Fisher benched him.
Keenum capitolized on a great offensive game plan and great effort from WRs and yet managed to falter down the stretch when he needed to make key plays.
It's not like he needed to have the high percentage he finished with but the WR made tremendous effort and won thier battles.
Keenum made the most of those opportunities and as excited or relaxed as he appeared to be he did not make the plays needed on the last 2 possessions and that is what you expect from a rookie perhaps.
When your top pick is sitting there not getting reps in practice or games and your stop gap is losing games because of bad plays, errant throws etc you have to wonder how much of an edge is Keenum giving this team. 3-3 now. Its time to wonder what's next. Fisher has the Keenum hype at a high he's a fighter, competitor and leader but when it counts we are left to wonder why he is our starter next week if we are not going to win and we can't inspire more.
Wanting that one back is simply not going to be enough of a make-up for blown opportunities on consecutive games and in this one on consecutive drives ending in a premature end to the game with nearly a minute and a half remaining.
I don't think I need to be overly critical of Keenum while our Defense struggled but to blame the defense when your offense was on the field with a chance to push the score, tie and win on consecutive series you have to say that is what the QB is supposed to do. He did not and greater QBs have been more harshly criticized for failing to do the same under the same set of circumstances.
Had Stafford failed like that I am sure his critics would not be blaming their defense. Comes with being one of the 32 Keenum wants to be a part of. The result comes with believing the hype and not understanding the difference. The results are clear to me and I would not be swayed by the stats of this last game. I would look at the scoreboard.
