Well we are all wired differently.
What it reminds ME of is the phrase, they beat themselves. That's very different from the phrase, they suffered a merciless beat-down and were never in the game.
I think of it as perspective.
Zn true, while a game you coulda (or shoulda) won can be very frustrating it isn't nearly as bad as the empty feeling that you shouldn't even be on the same field as the team that just systematically dismembered your team. Like you are in two different leagues. As a Ram fan I have felt both ways and I prefer former over the latter.
