Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher

(Opening remarks)

“Alright, well that was a tough one. I think it shows, in close games against good opponents, the need for turnovers or protecting the football and we didn’t get them defensively. It took points off the board in the first fumble and then we allowed them to put points on the board. In close ball games, those are going to be the difference makers there, so it’s disappointing. That’s a good football team. They’re on a roll, but we have every reason to be okay with where we are right now. I know there’s a lot of teams that would like to be 3-2, but we still have work to do. I thought you saw flashes of some good things. You saw some improvement out of the offense against a good defensive unit. We got the ball in our playmakers’ hands, and it seemed like either (Rcool smiley Todd (Gurley), or (WR) Kenny (Britt), or (WR) Tavon (Austin) or somebody was making plays offensively, we just didn’t get in the end zone. We have quite a challenge on our hands over the next couple of weeks, and the players know that. We’re going to get them back and have a great week of practice and then go on the road for a couple of weeks.”

(On the calling the fake punt)

“I wouldn’t have called it if I didn’t think it was going to work. That’s how those things are. We practiced it all week, we had the look, and it didn’t work. I’ll take that. They executed it in practice, but they didn’t execute it there. I thought if that thing works it’s good stuff, really good stuff - but it didn’t. They don’t always work, but that type of approach in special teams has taken us a long ways.”

(On making the decision to call a fake punt because of defensive positioning and weather conditions)

“Everything went into it. I like the look. I like the play. We got the look and they made the play. I think their outside guy made the play. He stopped coverage when he heard the crowd roar, so he came back and made the play.”

(On the defensive performance compared to earlier this season)

“Well, it’s a combination. We don’t make excuses, but three of our starting four defensive linemen were watching the game today. What those guys do is they pressure the quarterback and (DE Robert Quinn) Rob’s always making a chase play from behind, and we just didn’t get that today. Still not acceptable run defense, but they’ve been doing this for the last couple of weeks against a number of teams. He’s (LeSean McCoy) an outstanding back and they’re managing the game well with (Bills Qcool smiley Tyrod (Taylor). That second series or first series, the ball was snapped past him and we had a second-and-25 and a third-and-18 and we allowed him to convert with his legs. At that point you’re in for a ball game with him, so they’ve done an outstanding coaching job with him.”

(On considerations when going for it on a fourth down)

“Yeah, there’s always that consideration. It’s a decision you need to make, but we had the ball on the eight and then we had the holding penalty. The reason for the points was I was playing to win. We had plenty of time and had three timeouts left. So take the points, get a kick off, get a drive stop on defense, go down and a touchdown wins the game for you.”

(On the fake punt call being from the sidelines or a read on the field)

“Well, now you’re going into competitive things. That particular play was called, and there are some checks, but we didn’t need to check out based on the look we had.”

(On RB Todd Gurley scoring the Rams’ first touchdown since being back in Los Angeles in 1979)

“I forgot we hadn’t scored a touchdown here, and preseason doesn’t count. Thanks for bringing it up. Yeah, it does. He’s our back of the future, so I guess it’s only appropriate that he got the ball in the end zone there. His yards were tough today. That’s an outstanding defense and his yards were tough, but he made some outstanding plays. You could see the flashes, so we’re coming there.”

(On the pick-six off QB Case Keenum)

“I’ve got to see it. Someone told me that there was a hold on the play and the receiver was restricted, so I don’t know I have to look at the play. He made some good decisions today. Quick decisions and good throws.”

(On the health of CB Trumaine Johnson)

“I don’t know. We’ll have more information for you tomorrow. From the defensive line standpoint, Rob, they couldn’t do it. Nor could (DE) Will (Hayes) or (DT Michael Brockers) ‘Brock’, he had a setback in practice. They’re all willing, but we’re looking at the long haul right now and they wouldn’t have been productive. They wouldn’t have been able to protect themselves. That’s why you have young players. That’s why we brought (DE Morgan Fox) ‘Foxy’ up. So we’ll look at the tape and see how they played.”

(On the decisions to name certain players inactive)

“They were weekend decisions, over the last 24-48 hours.”

Los Angeles Rams QB Case Keenum

(On his first interception of the game)

“Yeah, we had ‘Coop’ (WR Pharoh Cooper) on a deeper, little out route there. When I thought he crossed his face, he did a good job. When I threw it out there and the guy made a heck of a play, but it was a bad decision, I think looking back, I have to watch the film and I have to see what exactly happened. But, I can’t do that, I can’t do that— especially in this league, across the board there’s guys who will make that play. I can’t put my team in that situation, obviously. But, the game came down to one or two plays and that was one play that I want back.”

(On the last field goal of the game)

“I just didn’t know what (Head) Coach (Jeff Fisher) was going to do on that play. I was going to be ready if he wanted it to. This is a tough deal— we love to punch that in on first, second and third down. We had a penalty that killed us on that drive. I think it was a 15-play drive and to come up with a field goal was tough.”

(On WR Tavon Austin and RB Todd Gurley’s performance)

“Yeah, we did a lot of really good things today. I thought offensively, I think we had a 15-play drive, overcoming some penalties, the opening drive – we just got to punch it in, we hurt ourselves in the red zone, again. But, yeah, there were a lot of positive things from Tavon, (WR) Kenny (Britt), Todd. I think Todd had some really big plays today, just not enough.”

(On if this week’s practice focused on getting the ball to WR Tavon Austin and RB Todd Gurley)

“You want to put the ball in the playmakers’ hands. We want to do that every week. We had some guys make some plays down the field quick. You know, (WR) Brian Quick made a few big plays again. He even got behind on one of the third downs early, that I overthrew him, another play I want back. It’s just the difference in this league – people are too good. You can’t have missed opportunities and you can’t turn it over, you can’t give guys extra possessions and we did that. I think that was of the big things of the game.”

(On the margin of error of the offense)

“I wouldn’t say we focus on that, but you look at it across the league and every game has one or two plays that decide the game and obviously, turnovers are huge. Yeah, there is a small margin of error – not something we dwell on but that’s why coach and we want to be perfect, every snap because you never know what snap is going to be crucial point of the game.”

(On making big plays in fourth quarter situations)

“I feel like we are very equipped. We’ve had a few ‘have-to’ plays or drives. Before, I would say that Arizona was a ‘have-to.’ Obviously, we were put in a really good situation with our return but, we had a couple of ‘have-tos’ and it’s going to happen in this league and a couple of ‘must convert third downs’ and we didn’t on a few. You can point to a lot of different things, but we just didn’t do enough today.”

(On the missed, deep pass to WR Brian Quick)

“It hurt, it hurt a lot, but you’ve got to move on. Obviously, those are plays that you learn from. Seeing him make those plays, I’ve got to give him a chance. It was tough one.”

(On their preparedness in the upcoming games in Detroit and London)

“I think we did good things today, I think we are progressing. Crucial situations – you have to move on and have a short memory in this league because we’ve got a lot of football left ahead of us and we are in a good spot – there are a lot of teams that would love to be where we are. So, we are going to keep fighting and we are going to take it a week at a time and we’ve got another great opponent on the road this week, then going even further on the road for a home game, never done that before, so not looking to that but we’ve got tests ahead of us. I think, like our team in general, we are fighters and we are going to fight. We are going to claw and fight and for everything we can get.”

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin

(On why the team wasn’t able to capitalize on offensive possessions)

“For the most part, we had a couple turnovers that kind of hurt us, but we still could’ve won the game. It’s about all of us just pulling together as one at the end. We did it before, we did it several times. This time, we didn’t come out with the win. But next week, we’ll definitely will have to practice this week hard, and try to go to Detroit and get a win.”

(On what he needs to work on)

“Basically, the offense. We got to score in that red zone. We keep getting down there, but not scoring in the red zone. Three points is good, but three points is not going to win too many big games, and that’s what it showed today. The receivers and the offense, we got to take a big role and step it up next week. We got to help them guys out and get in the box.”

(On if he felt like he was open on the play in which QB Case Keenum threw an interception, and the Bills returned it for a touchdown)

“No, that was just a scramble play. Case was just trying to make something happen. He just threw it up, and the guy was right there at the right place at the right time, that’s all.”

(On if he was surprised the team went for it on fourth down towards the end of the game)

“No, no, I trust Coach Fisher and whatever he wants to do. If he wanted to go for it three or four times, I’m okay with it. That’s our Coach, we love him, we believe in him, and if he wants to do it again next week, we’ll do it again.”

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley

(On why he wasn’t able to get the running game going)

“I felt like we did a pretty good job. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I felt like we did pretty good overall as an offense. We just got to not turn the ball over.”

(On scoring field goals rather than touchdowns in the red zone, and why he wasn’t able to find the end zone on red zone drives)

“It’s just a part of the game. You get field goals, you get touchdowns, sometimes you don’t get neither.”

(On if he felt like he moved well between the 20-yard lines)

“Oh yeah, for sure. Like I said, it’s just all executing. Trying to get first downs, trying to get touchdowns, check-downs, and field goals. Just trying to put point on the board.”

(On his thoughts about the failed fake punt attempt)

“It’s all apart of the game. As an offense, we had three tries to get a first down. So, that’s on us.”

(On if he felt like he played well enough to win the game)

“No, not at all. I put the ball on the ground twice, they got it back once, and they scored off of it. You can’t win games off turnovers.”

(On if he feels as if he’s improving every game)

“Oh yeah, most definitely. They really didn’t have too many in the box. O-line did a great job for me all game. Those guys played their tails off all game. Blocking, passing, touches, I got to pick it up for them.”

Los Angeles Rams LB Alec Ogletree

(On why it was so tough to contain Bills RB LeSean McCoy)

“It was especially on us, we just didn’t get in our gaps. We just kind of made up some stuff and they took advantage of our miscues. I thought we did a good job when we did get around him, we were able to stop him a little bit. He’s one of the better backs in the league, if you make a mistake, he can definitely find a hole.”

(On if he felt that the defense simply didn’t play well enough to win)

“No, we definitely didn’t play well enough to win this game. We beat ourselves on a lot of stuff, I felt like we really just lost the game ourselves.”

(On how tough it was for the defense with three injuries along the defensive line)

“It wasn’t tough at all, we just didn’t – not necessarily didn’t get aligned, we were just out of gaps sometimes and they were able to find a hole and hit us for a couple of big runs.”

(On what the defense needs to work on moving forward)

“Just being technically sound in a lot of our stuff that we’re doing. Like I said, today I felt like we beat ourselves on a lot of stuff – just not in the right gap, sometimes I might not get the call or something like that. It’s all up to us to just hone in our skills and come back next week and play technically sound football.”

Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald

(On if he could sense how thin the defensive line rotation was)

“We still had a good rotation.”

(On what he thought of Bills RB LeSean McCoy)

“We let him break us, we let him run all over us. Not happy about that at all. Like I said, we’ve just got to watch the film and correct it so stuff like that won’t happen again.”

(On what it was that made McCoy so effective)

“He just made plays. We just didn’t bottle him up, we didn’t get to him, we didn’t hit him enough and it showed.”

(On if he feels pretty good about where the team is at 3-2 if he were to take a step back)

“You’re not in a good mood anytime you lose. It’s a long season, we have time to bounce back, we just have a lot of things we have to correct on defense.”

Los Angeles Rams DL Dominique Easley

(On how difficult the workload was since the defensive line was shorthanded)

“It wasn’t that much different, we just rotated, like how we always do – just take care of our rotation and play with each other.”

(On if there was anything in particular that the Bills were doing in the run game)

“No, we knew everything they were going to do, we just have to play.”

Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan

(Opening remarks)

“Obviously, that was a tough win, but man, it was a great win. We knew it was going to be a tough game. Obviously, this team came in with a lot of confidence, winning three games in a row. It was some tough sledding. Both sides of the ball were challenged, and I think the biggest challenge was special teams, but I think the biggest play of the day might have been when we stopped the fake punt, but (Special Teams Coordinator) Danny Crossman, (Special Teams Assistant) Eric Smith, and (Quality Control-Special Teams) Kathryn Smith did a great job preparing special teams for that exact play, so we were ready for it, but man, it was some tough sledding. I think really the difference in the game, obviously, the play on special teams was tremendous, and then creating turnovers, and then playing red zone defense. That was the key, defensively, and then on offense, just keep grinding it out. Obviously, we knew they were going to really rush the passer, which they did, but we made enough plays in the running game.”

(On CB Nickell Robey-Coleman’s interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter to take the lead and what it meant for the rest of the game)

“That was a big play in the game, no question about it. I also thought that we had a big sack. We dialed up an oldie but a goldie and insinuated pressure. They did a good job picking up some things, and (that time) it worked for a big sack. I felt a slow in the tide, a little bit. I felt our momentum picking up on defense. It was going to be a tough game, but we knew it.”

(On LB Lorenzo Alexander’s performance)

“Absolutely. We knew we were getting a great pass rusher (DE Shaq Lawson), it’s just his name might not have been Lorenzo Alexander. But hopefully that young kid comes in and does what we thought he would when we drafted him. But Lorenzo, you can’t say enough for him. And then, how about that hit he makes on special teams? It’s just time and time again. You talk about a great pro that you wish every one of your players would emulate – to be honest with you, there are a lot of guys like that, but man, he’s right at top of the list. What a tremendous job he’s done. And on the other side, a guy like (Lcool smiley Jerry Hughes. They know where Jerry’s at, I can promise you that.”

(On how reserve players stepping up reveal the toughness of his defense)
“I think the big deal is you’re seeing eleven guys out there playing as one. They don’t want to let each other down, and I think that’s the great thing. We ask a lot of our guys. Sometimes our corners get the tough down. Sometimes our nickel gets the tough down. Whoever it is, sometimes you’re trying to keep the ball in and play in seven-man spacing and (DT) Corbin Bryant gets the tough down, but either way, you just keep hanging in there, and we’re just fighting like crazy. But they’re doing a great job. It has nothing to do with individual glory and all that. I think we’ve sold out to just being a team and I think that’s how we’re playing.”

(On CB Nickell Robey-Coleman making a great play at an opportune time)

“He made two of them. He got the two interceptions today. He’s coming home, and like my old coach use to say, sometimes guys will step up their game when they go home. He did a great job. Obviously, he’s played this season with a ton of confidence, and I think it’s based on the fact that he allows himself to really be coached and he is buying into it – the film study, the preparation, and everything else. He’s got a lot of ability, but he doesn’t rely on just ability, only. He is just a tireless worker and it’s really paying off for us, this year.”

(On if he could have won if RB LeSean McCoy had not played so well)
“I’m glad I don’t need to find out, because I’m happy with what McCoy’s role and ID is. And that’s a tough defense. I think he went for 150 yards, today. Yeah, he’s a spectacular guy.”

(On if today’s performance was as good as he had seen McCoy since he has coached him)

“He’s been pretty good in a bunch of games, but that was a heck of a game – 18 carries, 150 yards. Man, oh man. He just keeps playing great.”

(On his team’s +9 turnover margin and constantly making big plays on defense, this season)

“When we get a lead, that’s when we start getting those things. That’s what happens. Right now, you get them in bunches, and that’s kind of where we’re at, right now.”

(On how it feels to win three straight games after an 0-2 start)
“It feels great. You know me, I’m just an average coach and I’ve very rarely won three straight games, so it feels great. We’ve just got to go for four, now and that’s where the focus is.”

(On DT Marcell Darius’ status)

“He was ready to go until we had our Friday practice, and he was looking fantastic, guys. I mean, absolutely fantastic. (Qcool smiley E.J. (Manuel) escapes from the pocket (in practice) and he was chasing the quarterback full speed and he pulled his hamstring. It was like ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. We’ve missed him for four games, and now we’re going to miss him against (Rams Rcool smiley Todd Gurley and company.’ But you know what? We did the right thing. We weren’t putting him out there. We need him. We need him healthy and we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully he gets back on the field, because when you talk about some great tackles, you have this (Rams DT Aaron) Donald kid who I’ve said from day one is like the best tackle in football, but our tackle’s pretty darn good, too, and he’s right there with him. I think we wanted to show everybody let’s see how good this guy is in (DT) Kyle Williams. It’s unfortunate he never got the opportunity today, but hopefully he’ll be out there this coming-up week.”

(On injuries other than S Colt Anderson)

“I’ll be honest, I don’t have the list with me right now, so I’m assuming that that’s it.”

(On getting to 3-2 after starting 0-2)

“I thought we were a way better team than that. The Jet game, we stunk up the joint, especially defensively, and that wasn’t what this team looked like. That wasn’t what this defense looked like all training camp and all that. That was disheartening, but it wasn’t for a lack of confidence. I knew we could get the ship righted and right now, it looks like we’re going in the right direction, but we know that we’ve got a tough one coming up (vs. the 49ers). That running back (makes “woopf” noise). We don’t know who’s going to be their quarterback, or whatever. It might be (former 49ers Qcool smiley John Brodie. We’ll see. We’ll address it. But our team will be ready. We’ll be prepared.”

(On if the passing game needs to be better long term)

“Absolutely. We missed a couple throws. We had some drops. (Qcool smiley Tyrod (Taylor) played a pretty good football game, it just doesn’t show up, statistically, but I think he had a good game. The protection, we knew that was going to be a challenge, this week, but man, those guys, they ruffled our feathers a little bit. We’ve got to do a better job. It starts with protection, first, but we’ve got to catch the football, too.”

(On throws that QB Tyrod Taylor missed and if he needs a franchise quarterback to make those throws)

“There was a couple things – a couple issues with everything out there, but I believe he is a franchise quarterback, so we’ll see that. Moving forward, I’m confident, I can tell you that much. It’s tough. There’s no excuses for anything. We’ve got a gritty group of receivers. Hopefully (WR) Sammy Watkins comes back, because there’s a reason you trade two first-round picks for him – and high picks. I think that would help a little bit, too, but you know what? There’s no excuses. I think we’ll throw the ball better. Like I said, I think it will start with protection, first, like it always does, and we’ve got to catch the football, but I believe in Tyrod Taylor. There isn’t anybody in our locker room that doesn’t believe in Tyrod Taylor, and as a matter of fact, E.J. Manuel, so we think we’re in good shape.”

(On where this 3-0 run ranks among the gratifying moments of his career)

“It’s just a gratifying moment, and we know we’ve got a ton of work in front of us. It’s just about winning one game per week, and that’s kind of where we are. The gratification will come, obviously, if we’re fortunate enough to do what our plans were. We’ve got to fly home, maybe it will be gratifying on the way home, but I’ll read like always – but that’s it. It’s like ‘Let’s get prepared.’ I’m hearing coaches (say) ‘Hey, coaches!’ I’m hearing my brother (Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan say) ‘Alright, coaches! We prepared hard, last week. Let’s do a better job, this week.’ He’s already on guys and everything else. That’s what we owe our football team. We’ve got to be great. We’ve got to get our players. That’s the job of all of our coaches and that’s what we owe our players. I also want to apologize for my missed interception. I know it was a big point in the game and we needed it. It was ugly.”

(On his decision to wear a sweater vest and long sleeves in the heat)
“I was a little chilly. It was chilly out there. I knew a cold front was moving in. It wasn’t a great decision, but it’s my look.”

(On WR Justin Hunter’s progress after his first week)

“He’s a big old rascal. I think he can do some things. He can run, he’s got size. We’ll get him to learn the playbook and that’ll probably give more opportunities for the offense.”

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor

(On not having any turnovers in their current three game-winning streak)

“It’s definitely been a big part of our success – taking care of the football, especially on the road. Teams feed off of that, it’s a momentum swing. We know if we can protect the football, finish the drive – whether it’s a punt, a field goal, or a kickoff, which is ultimately the main thing that we’re trying to get. But we know if we finish the drives in those three phases, then we’re doing a good job.”

(On the difference in momentum between the first half and second half)

“They made some adjustments in the second half. Some things that we had to fix out on the sideline. Hats off to them. They played a great game. It was back and fourth for a while. We were able to move the ball, like you said, early on in the game. Later in the game we had to finish those drives. Like I said, it was a good team victory, but definitely some plays that we left out there on the field.”

(On starting 0-2 and how he feels now)

“We are a very confident team. Definitely the 0-2 start was definitely not the way that we wanted to start the season, but I think that it made us a better team. We learned from it. We’re going to continue to keep progressing as the year goes.”

(On how much he admired what his defense did today)

“When I’m on the sideline watching our team play, the defense is out there playing their butts off. They work hard throughout the week. When they get an opportunity each and every week to go out there and show what type of defense we have, they’ve play very well the past couple weeks, and they’ve played very well all season. It’s up to us as an offense to play complementary to them, and us to go out there and get a win as a team.”

(On how Bills RB LeSean McCoy, and their offense played during the game)

“LeSean has been playing very well. They guys in the backfield have been playing very well. They guys in the front have been blocking and creating holes for LeSean to go out there and do the things that he’s been doing. He’s definitely played with an extra ‘gear’ to his game, I guess you would say. He’s definitely going out there and making plays. It definitely benefits our offense.”

(On what happened in the first drive play when he missed the snap)

“That’s a not top ten (laughs). I was trying to fix the formation. We had lined up opposite of what I called. So I was still trying to fix the formation, and we ended up snapping it and I was behind the guard and not the center. We were able to make it up on the long third-down run. We were able to score on that drive. So we’ve just got to put that behind us.”

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy

(On if this was his best performance as a Bills player)

“Stats-wise, yeah. But there were some plays I missed today. I could have easily have had over 200 yards. Just small things, I get so wrapped up in just trying to make too many plays. Sometimes you do things and make it harder on yourself when you don’t have to. There were some plays I should have just ran it and picked up 10, 15 yards. It was locked up, I just didn’t make the right cut.”

(On how bad he wanted to get into the end zone in the fourth quarter)

“Bad. Even in the first long run I had, the hole opened up and I just couldn’t get there. You always want to try and finish the drive out with a touchdown, but a win’s a win. To get up here and just nitpick about this and that, come on. We got a ‘W’ against a good team, a 3-1 team, which was a favorite. You know, an L.A. trip. We could have let a lot of distractions get to us - long flights, leaving a day before. We didn’t do that, made no excuses. Came out here with the mindset to get a victory and that’s what happened.”

(On the mental toughness of this team)

“That’s the National Football League. I mean, it’s great players. We look on their offense, they’ve got great players. On defense, the same thing, it just came down to us finishing the game out. We made a run early, then they answered back, then we had to answer again. The small things that people don’t understand is like the field goal going into halftime. That was major, that’s a major play. Then we get the pick. Then we try to close the game out at the end. It’s a team win. It wasn’t a dominating performance by our offense or a dominating performance by our defense or special teams. It was all together. That’s a big win.”

(On the injuries to the Rams’ defense line and if that changed their offensive approach)

“They have a good team. On the defense, Aaron Donald, a Pitt player by the way, he’s a heck of a player. You watch him on tape, he’s always around the ball, always in the mix giving offensive teams issues. He’s disruptive, extremely disruptive. They’ve got some players. The guys that are hurt, you never really look at that unless you’re like a (Tom) Brady or something like that.”

Buffalo Bills LG Richie Incognito

(On cleaning up the overall play)

“Yeah, everything handles itself when you’re scoring points and extending drives. When you’re putting up points and extending ball games, everything kind of runs smoother.”

(On the amount of fun in dominating up front)

“Yeah, that’s a recipe for winning. That’s what we’re built for. (RB LeSean McCoy) ‘Shady’s’ a talented back, it’s fun blocking for him. That’s our recipe for success right now.

(On if he wants to see more of a passing game)

“We’re kind of built old school. We’re kind of built to run it and win, ground-and-pound. We’ll win games however we have to.”

(On the team’s ground and pound philosophy)

“(Head Coach) Rex (Ryan) loves that. That’s why I’m here. Rex brought me in to ground-and-pound and that’s why we’re all here.”

Buffalo Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman

(On how much his return to Los Angeles played into his performance today)

“First I want to back up and I want to just thank God for everything that happened today. Today was such a wonderful day for everybody on my team, my teammates, coaches, and the organization. Today, the performance that I had, I feel like it played a big part in the defense. I feel like the guys all worked together today, and we were communicating and everything was on point. We knew exactly what they were trying to do, and we were just able to make a couple plays.”

(On tightening up the defense in the red zone and forcing field goals)

“Well we’ve always been pretty good in the red zone. We do a great job in the red zone. (Bills Defensive Coordinator) Coach Rob (Ryan) comes up with a great game plan in the red zone. We harp on that every day at practice. We do at least a little bit of red zone, either in film or on the football field, so red zone is a big thing for us. If we can stop them in the red zone and force them to kick a field goal, that’s like a win for the defense, so we try to keep that going.”

(On the ‘Pick 6’ being a turning point)

“It was kind of sluggish, and then that play, I feel like it sparked us. I feel like it gave our defense some juice. It gave the team some juice. It gave the sideline some juice, and sometimes that’s what you need to bring everybody together. Somebody has to make a big play. Once somebody makes a big play, that’s when everybody just starts honing in, and gets down in the keys and tries to make a play. I think our juices started going and everything was great.”

Buffalo Bills LB Lorenzo Alexander

(On the defense excelling with guys that aren’t considered superstars)

“If you’re in the NFL, then you can play. I think our guys are doing a great job of taking advantage of the opportunities, understanding the game plan, understanding the team and how they’re attacking us. Anytime you’re prepared, you can go out there and make plays. A lot of times in the league it’s just guys getting an opportunity. You can have great players being back up players, and then when the stars go down and you get the opportunity to shine, then you can definitely find yourself excelling in this league very quickly.”

(On the amount of turnovers the defense had in this game)

“That’s huge in the NFL in general. If you lead in the turnover ratio, you often times are winning games. So, that’s what we pride ourselves on defense. Our core principal is to take the ball away and score on defense.”

(On CB Nickell Robey-Coleman being a playmaker and how his pick-six impacted the game)

“That was a momentum shift in the game. He’s (Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman) a great player. He’s a guy like me. His rotation has a minimal role, but when he gets in there he makes the most of it. He had another great play on special teams when they (Rams) ran that fake he had a big tackle as well. So, he’s a guy that’s doing a great job. Had a pick at the end of the game as well. He just finds his way around the ball when he has the opportunity to play.”

(On the team helping him be so productive)

“It’s just my skillset. I think Rob Ryan, Rex Ryan and the DT just put me in a great position to make plays. We do a lot of moving around. We’re not just staggering and sitting in there. I think I do a good job blitzing and just trying to find my way in the scheme. I think everybody else around me does a great job. We had me, (Bills OLcool smiley Jerry (Hughes), and (Bills DT) Kyle (Williams) kind of roaming. You don’t know who to turn the attention to and today I ran free, and I had a layup and was able to capitalize on the play.”
