I know many were worried when Jenkins went to free agency and I was certainly concerned. I recall last year that a number of young players showed well. I also recall that several were injured last year. They looked strong against the Cards. The interceptions were great, but the overall play makes me think the secondary will be a strength going forward. Big legal hits, sure tackling, closing speed, blitzing and pass breakups without interference calls gives me hope. Certainly constant pressure on the QB played a role in that and the secondary contributed to that pressure with blitzes. Yes they gave up some yards, but all in all I thought it was an outstanding game by the secondary.
I will include Brockers in the secondary since he dropped into coverage several times! He is an unsung hero on that line.
