3-1 should mean no losing season with 2 divisions wins and 3 road wins and no home losses but that is a very long way from Play-offs and Superbowls. I like the result but I know how close we are to being 1-3 or even 0-4.
There is no reason to take ourselves too seriously when we know that if our defense faulters enough on a rough week we most likely cannot keep pace. Our defense has historically been flashy but not necessarily the unmovable object.
What is really next for this team. in October? Convincing a team you can win and actually being fortunate to catch struggling teams this time around is a bit of good fortune we should not take for granted. Bright spot is that Brian Quick is making plays that are helping Case look like... well Kellen Clemens.
I sorry as happy as I am about 4-1 I cannot take a breath because it is too hard to determine if this is even remotely sustainable.
I see many convincing themselves that the old school antics of Fisher just may be the answer but I say to what? or whom? We have produced offensively 1 pro bowler and he may not make the probowl playing Fisher ball.
Kellen Clemens re-deux is a bit of an enigma. I don't know how long his narative can continue. My wife thinks everything is rigged and ar 4-1 I start looking at the good breaks and the fortuitous calls and say are these the my Rams?
Well without a renaissance Fisher is not going to take us successfully into the future as a team to be counted on year after year competing for championships.
For Rams it was departure from failed practices that put us in the SB mix. It was moving from George Allen to Ray Malavasi and from Pat Hayden to Vince Farragam.
It was Vermeil upgrading the Offense with an offensive genius and moving from Philips to Faulk and Adding Holt to Bruce and Timmerman to Pace.
Our offense is not going to be better until Groh has more influence in the offense and brings its passing game into the 21st century.
The beauty of viewing it the way I do is that I can honestly say Fisher made me do it!
